Conference Theme

The overarching theme of the conference is the relationship between toys and learning in different cultures. A broad scope of approaches is encouraged from the technological and social sciences and the humanities.

Papers, workshops, poster sessions and symposia may explore any of the conference themes. Topics are likely to include:

1 - Learning with toys, learning about toys in different cultures
2 - Learning with toys as a method
3 - The role, place, and significance of toys in formal and informal learning environments in the 21st century
4 - The role, place, and significance of toys in formal and informal learning environments in the past
5 - Toys and toy design in educational programs
6 - Toys, play, and gender
7 - Computer games and learning
8 - Toys in the Global Marketplace: Shifting Concerns in Play, Design, Sales, and Education


Venue

The 6th ITRA Conference of the International Toy Research Association was held in conjunction with the Uludag University, Faculty of Education, Department of Preschool Education in Bursa, Turkey.

The conference took place at the Historic Kervansaray Hotel in downtown Bursa, the fourth biggest city of Turkey, which is known for its rich historic and natural beauty.
